Balikuda women’s college was the brainchild of elite persons of the locality spearheaded by Smt. Meera Das Ex. MP Rajya sabha. Their dream became materialised in 1991-92, when the college obtained due permission from the Govt. . Subsequently the college got permission to open +3 stream in 1999 with Education, Sociology and Political science as the subjects with 64 seats. Later on the Degree college offered Honours facilities in Sociology, Education, Odia, English, Political science and Lib.and Information science.

The resourceful faculty members are performing their assigned duties meticulously to fulfill the dream of the poor meritorious girls students of the locality. Now the college which is situated far from the madding crowd amid the green patches of land in Nagapur G.P under Balikuda Police Station. Now the college is marching ahead in a slow but steady manner in a mission mode purpose to materialise the dream of young girls through imparting quality education. The college is daily adding new chapter to its History by performing so many extra-curricular activities. The potentialities of the staff and students helped to enrich the beauty of the college. It acts as a proper venue to bloom the buds in the field of education of the locality.
